Outreach

We have changed our community outreach to the SECOND SUNDAY OF THE MONTH, 3-5pm!

Training
We recommend folks attend an info session about NoHo Home Alliance before joining us on outreach but it's not required. New volunteers shadow existing teams and it's through active listening and experience that you learn the most. You can also watch this video from SELAH Homeless Coalition about what to expect when going out.

Since occasionally we encounter folks in crisis, we rely on experienced outreach volunteers to lead our teams. Even if you have past experience doing outreach or professional experience, our leads are trained in what NoHo Home Alliance can provide so we still ask that you shadow as a new volunteer before becoming a team lead. We'll show you the ropes!

What To Expect

  • We'll meet at NoHo Home Alliance, split into teams, pack up supplies and talk through our routes
  • We'll head out in caravans to sites. 
  • You'll greet folks, offer supplies and check on what they might need.
  • We want to make folks aware of all the services available in the area (you can find these on our flyers). For certain regions, we do housing referrals in the field and for others, we recommend folks go to the drop-ins to do housing referral intakes. We also send referrals to the street medicine team, hand out ID vouchers and talk with folks about how we can best support them as their neighbors. We never promise something we can't deliver but we offer what we can.
