$763 raised

Ended Oct 6, 2021

Unlike much of the actions being taken in Los Angeles, NoHo Home Alliance is a service-based organization meeting the needs of our community. Los Angeles County has the largest homeless population in the U.S., even outranking the population in many other states.

This small, hyper-local organization has been around for just over 5 years, but their model was very different before the pandemic.

Last year, a member of our community asked us to fill in for them as a NoHo volunteer since they were in our covid-vulnerable population. The uncertainty of the pandemic stopped all of us from our daily interactions, but NoHo never closed. In fact, they expanded.

Inspired by the work of Executive Director, Stephanie Jeager, members of VJC worked against all odds to open a second location in Studio City this past April. At the same time, NoHo East (North Hollywood location) grew to accommodate a third day, which launched the previous December. Many of us were volunteering multiple times a week to provide food, mail, clothing, and showers at both locations.

Soon after the opening of NoHo West (Studio City), NoHo Home Alliance began training Housing Specialist! We could now refer people to interim housing and started helping people transition off the street. With the help of a new grant from the Hilton Foundation and supplemental funds from CD4, NoHo Home now has full-time staff working to help our unhoused neighbors on the path to housing.

We're raising money for this amazing, care based organization because they are they best at what they do! We allow guests to come as they are, and we work very hard to show up in a trauma-informed way. Enforcement isn't how we care for people. We're looking to raise $1000 with your help to continue the care-based, services model that changes lives for the better.
